Dhaka fabric has a heritage with the Limbu people of Nepal. The weaver has a small spool of thread for every color being used. If they want two thread widths to be black, they'll pull the thread through the warp for just those two, pull forward the heddle to tighten those two threads, then move on to the next detail. The patterns of dhaka are typically so intricate that after a full day of weaving, they'll have just one meter of finished cloth.
